Through the lens
This gallery is a collection of images gathered during years spent traveling. living with and photographing Buddhist monks throughout Asia. More than distant places or religious rituals, these photographs are reminders that joy, belonging, stillness, and human connection can often be found in the simplest moments of everyday life.
As a photographer, I gradually realized that documenting happiness required changing the way I saw the world itself. Early on, I searched for dramatic moments, exotic rituals, and perfect compositions. But over time, the monks taught me that joy often reveals itself far more quietly — in shared meals, morning light, laughter between friends, small acts of kindness, and the simple rhythm of everyday life. Learning to recognize those ordinary moments changed not only my photography, but also the way I understood happiness itself.
